Prep Instructions

Clear Liquid Diet Guide

  • No milk, ice cream, or other food products that contains milk

  • Do not eat any corn, peas, watermelon, popcorn, nuts, seeds 7 days prior to procedure

Must follow a clear liquid diet the entire day before procedure:
  • Apple juice

  • White grape juice

  • White cranberry juice

  • Gatorade (No red, blue, purple, green)

  • Beef broth

  • Vegetable broth

  • Orange or lemon Jell-O

  • Carbonated drinks (Pepsi, Coke, Sprite, etc.)

  • Iced or Hot Tea (May add sugar, artificial sweetener, or lemon only)

  • Coffee (NO CREAMER OR MILK)

  • Frozen popsicles (no red, blue purple or green)

  • Kool-Aid (no red, blue, purple, or green)

  • Water

EGD Preparation

  1. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight prior to scheduled procedure (Including gum or candy)

  2. Someone must accompany you the day of procedure to drive you home

  3. If you are diabetic please follow directions from your physician on how to hold your diabetic medications prior to procedure.

  4. If you are on a blood thinner please follow directions from your physician on how to hold your blood thinner prior to procedure

  5. The morning of your procedure you may take your blood pressure medication, heart medication, thyroid medication, and seizure medication at 6:00 am the morning of the procedure with a small sip of water.

Colonoscopy Golytely Split Dose Prep

  1. You must be on a clear liquid diet all day the day prior to your colonoscopy

  2. Starting at 5:00pm the day before your test, drink 8 ounces of Golytely over 10 until you have finished half of the gallon or 64 ounces.

* The goal is to keep down the Golytely, slow down if necessary

  1. Do not have anything other than Golytely after midnight

  2. Starting 4 hours before you leave home the morning of your procedure drink 8 ounces of Golytely every 10 minutes until it is finished.

* Reminder: Do not eat any corn, peas, watermelon, popcorn, nuts or nuts 7 days prior to the procedure

* Please check instructions provided by office for additional prep required by your physician such as magnesium citrate, Dulcolax, prune juice, low residue diet

Colonoscopy Plenvu Prep

  1. Starting at 5:00pm the day before your procedure:

    • Mix contents of Dose 1 into the mixing container, fill to the fill line with water and mix until completely dissolved.

    • Drink the entire contents within 30 minutes

    • Rinse mixing container and refill to the line with water and drink within 30 minutes

  2. Nothing by mouth other than Plenvu (including gum and candy) after midnight

  3. Starting 4 hours before you leave home the morning of your procedure

    • Mix contents of Dose 2A and Dose 2B into the mixing container, fill to the fill line with water and mix until completely dissolved.

    • Drink the entire contents within 30 minutes

Rinse mixing container and refill to the line with water and drink within 30 minutes
